Basestation is passionate about building community - especially if it supports sustainability.

For the last few years Basestation has been hosting the Tauranga Repair Cafe. We sponsor this monthly event by providing access to our Babbage Event Space, which is also home to Tinkd Makerspace.

Repair Cafe is a global movement that looks to repair, recycle and minimise waste. It is run by volunteers and is completely free service for locals to use.

This pop up service 'opens' on the last Saturday of each month. You will need to register and book a (as you can imagine - it's a popular service!).

The team of volunteers can assess and repair items such as:

  • Small appliances
  • Household items
  • Computing/small devices
  • Wooden items/toys
  • Bikes
  • Clothing/sewing mending (no alterations or zipper replacements please)

Although the service is free, they do ask for a koha or small donation.

For more details as to when their next event is, go to their website here.

ALSO - if you are a bit of a fixer yourself and feel confident and comfortable volunteering your services and wisdom, please reach out to the team as they are always on the hunt for more volunteers to come and give them a hand.
